Think libraries are boring?
Well, think again. Today’s libraries are a delightful combination of old school and high tech. Of course, libraries will always have great books waiting to be plucked from the shelves, but at many locations, you can also find free Internet, downloadable media, 3-D printing, and more.
Unfortunately, there are some parts of the world with no libraries at all. These people have little access to books, and you can forget about high-tech add-ons. So, what to do if you’re a bibliophile who lives in Burundi or on the plains of Mongolia?

My Response — Kindle
I remember as a kid every so often the book mobile would come around and we could check out books out. It was so cool. Love the mobile Library pictured. What a great blog. Followed you.
I like everything about the Biblioburros. What’s not to love about books delivered by adorable and surefooted burros? The program reminds me of the horseriding librarians sometimes used during The Great Depression
Horseback librarians during the depression? I’d never heard of that. I’ll have to look into this intriguing topic. Thanks for the comment.
love that pic …. here we often have small book shelves by the side of the road, in a hairdressers … in many public spaces so people can use it as an exchange, bring a book and take a book!

Thanks Kate, I’m thinking of starting a mini-library of my own. I certainly own enough books to stock it.

great idea, good luck with it!
Wow, can I sign up for the elephant librarian? I love that people feel literacy is this important. It really is. Great video!
Hi bestadman! Thanks for reading. This post was from my heart. It makes me sad to think that some people don’t have libraries. What would we miss if there were no books in our lives? Yes, a library elephant would be fun, but I’m glad I don’t need one.
Woohoo, I’m following you now! Love your travel / LIBRARY posts. I’m a bibliophile myself and can’t believe how amazing it is to read about people going the extra mile to get books to others.
Thanks for the follow. I obviously have two loves, travel and libraries. It’s fun to be able to combine them. Thanks!
