Duck Takes a Walk (During COVID 19)

A Silly But Serious Story

As I got ready to go on my morning walk, my granddaughter stopped me and said, “Duck needs to get out of the house (don’t we all) would you take him on your walk?”

I agreed, and this is what happened:

Duck leaves the house for the first time in forever.

He stops to enjoy the flowers.

He chats with a friend at a local watering hole.

He goes to the playground but nobody’s there.

It’s not as much fun as it used to be.

Luckily there are still some people out and about. Duck loves the people who take care of us.

Duck misses picnics.

and going to school,

and church – sigh.

Duck decides to STOP being sad and just enjoy this beautiful day.

He knows that before long he’ll be able to go to his friend’s houses and things will be almost like they were before.

He can’t wait!

    • Thanks Eunice – I don’t know why everyone thinks Lucy is looking for a snack – well, now that you mention it, I guess that look in her eye could be checking to make sure the coast is clear before she pounces. 😐 LOL! Thanks for stopping by.

    • It just sort of happened – duck was hanging out of my pocket and one of my walking friends asked about it. We decided we should take some pictures to let the grands see where he went on his walk. I remember Flat Stanley!

    • Thanks Tierney, I think Duck is all of us. We can’t wait to get back to or lives and friends. Hope all is well with you. At least with your quilts etc. you have something fun to do inside. (I’m still planning to link your Beastie goes to the library post – I’m waiting until our LIbrary opens again and can post about that. Hopefully soon – there are rumblings about May 11? Can’t Wait!)

      • I want to press my face up against the windows of our local library. They are considering curbside service (not sure what that means) as of 5/8. I do not want curbside – I was to run free among the shelves, browsing to my heart’s content 🙂

        • I know, we’re looking at curbside service too but people will be allowed to run free as well – limited amount of people and limited time, but hey – better than peering through the window and leaving smudges. LOL

    • Thanks for dropping by Jo. I love my fellow travel bloggers and it’s fun to learn about their stories. You mentioned in your intro that you’re from Algarve – and I had to look that up. Portugal ahhh, a fun place I’ve never been but now get to experience vicariously by tagging along on your walks. I’ll keep in touch.

  3. Thank you, Geanie and Duck, for making me smile. I understand Duck’s need to get out of the house. On a sunny day with clear blue skies like the one you had, I’d get ready so fast to run outside 🙂

  4. Hello my friend, Duck is hilarious and he is all of us. Can’t wait to have a picnic, and party with friends. (That tree is gorgeous – hope your husband doesn’t cut it down.😁😁😁).

  5. What a wonderful grandmother you are. Your grand daughter is ducky to have you. From the photos it looks like you had good duck with the weather.as well. Really cute photos. Is walking with a duck all that is quacked up to be?

    • That tree is in peril. It is so gorgeous, but it makes a terrible mess and my husband does not appreciate it. I may have to chain my body to the trunk one day to save it from the chainsaw of doom.
